Trichocereus pachanoi, Echinopsis pachanoi and Trichocereus macrogonus var. pachanoi are linked names. Kew currently accepts Echinopsis pachanoi. This is an attributed taxonomic treatment, not a universal “official name” that every author must follow.

What “same type” means

Homotypic names share a nomenclatural type. That does not make all living plants bearing those names genetically identical. Keep the botanical name and the plant’s individual provenance in separate fields. See the label-reading guide.
